That We Should Know All Too Well (But Don't)
"Should've kept every grocery store receipt
Cause every scrap of you would be taken from me"
This is such an emotional song and the bridge is absolutely perfect and no one really talks about it??
It's so visual, emotional, and it's just about these seemingly mundane moments that you spend with your loved ones that can still be so vivid and really tug at your heartstrings years later.
"And the battle was long,
it's the fight of our lives."
This bridge (and the song overall, tbh) took on a whole new meaning after I heard it on "Fearless" (Taylor's Version).
Initially, it might've been about her breaking into the industry as an underdog, but now it's more about her fight to own her work.
It just hits harder now.
"Time turns flames to embers,
You'll have new Septembers."
his line is so underrated. It's one of her bests and it barely gets any recognition.
This song is about forgiving someone and seeing things through their perspective to get some closure.
It's about how we're all flawed and can make some major mistakes, but that doesn't mean we don't deserve to get a second chance to change.
"The battle's in your hands now,
But I would lay my armor down,
If you say you'd rather love than fight."
This bridge has got so much depth — it's got anger, sadness and a nonchalant attitude that disguises all the hard feelings and all the things you've wanted to say to someone, but cannot because they're too far away.
"Even in my worst lies,
you saw the truth in me."
She really went off with the rhyming on this bridge and it all fits perfectly together.
It makes me go, "good for you, Taylor, you deserve this!!".
"Barefoot in the kitchen,
sacred new beginnings,
that became my religion."
The start of something great always lives rent-free in your head, doesn't it? It's so much fun to go reminisce about how the book you've written with someone started off on a blank page that you only started filling in at a specific moment.
It makes you think about all the laughs, the misunderstandings, the fights, and everything else in between.
"I think your house is haunted,
Your dad is always mad and that must be why."
This song is about Taylor's childhood friend who didn't grow up in a very supportive environment.
The bridge is what ties this whole song together — it shows much she wanted to help her friend escape this situation but they were only children and the only way they could escape was to pretend that they'll be pirates and move to India.
"This is falling in love in the cruelest way, this is falling for you when you are worlds away."
This song has always been very underrated but it hits harder now that so many people have been separated from the ones they love because of well, 2020 AND 2021.
All you want is for them to be here and it's so hard when they're not.

We all know that Taylor Swift is the absolute QUEEN of writing bridges — someone who is truly the best out there. But, there are quite a few amazing pieces of her work that get overlooked because we're so busy admiring the other equally great ones.
