All the 2022 Nobel Prize winners

The 2022 Nobel Prizes were awarded this week. Here’s a list of the laureates.

The Swedish geneticist won for his work on the genomes of extinct hominins and human evolution.

Physiology or Medicine: Svante Pääbo

Physics: Alain Aspect, John Clauser & Anton Zeilinger 

The three physicists split the award equally, each for their work on entangled quantum states.

Chemistry: Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal & K. Barry Sharpless

Another three-way split for this award and Sharpless’s second win. Each chemist was celebrated for their work in developing click chemistry in which molecular building blocks snap together.

Ernaux is the author of books like “Shame” and “The Years.”

Literature: Annie Ernaux

The detained Belarusian human rights advocate Bialiatski along with Russian and Ukrainian human rights organizations were lauded for their work documenting war crimes, human rights abuses and the abuse of power.

Peace: Ales Bialiatski, Memorial & Center for Civil Liberties

Economics: Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond & Philip H. Dybvig

These economists each won for their research in the early 1980s that improved our understanding of the role of banks in the economy, especially during financial crises.
